# Sign in and get to know the organization

## The invitation

You enter Basement Gateway with an invitation. An admin of your organization invites your e-mail in **Team**. You receive an e-mail with a link. Open the link to accept. Without an invitation, the site and the app refuse your e-mail.

1. Open [app.basement.chat](https://app.basement.chat).
2. Type your e-mail. Click **Send code**.
3. Type the 6-digit code from your e-mail. Click **Sign in**.

There is no password. The code is the sign-in. After the first sign-in, you can create a **passkey**. With a passkey, you sign in with Touch ID, Face ID or Windows Hello, without a code.

## The organization

An organization is the space of one company: the documents, the files, the skills, the tasks, the connected services and the members. You can be a member of more than one organization. The selector at the top of the site changes the active organization.

The menu of the site has six areas: **Home**, **Tasks**, **Knowledge** (documents, files and skills), **Agents**, **Connections** (the services) and **Team** (the members).

## The roles of the members

| Role | What it can do |
| ---------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Owner** | Everything. Also renames the organization and manages the admins. |
| **Admin** | Manages the members, the access levels and all the agents. Configures the services for the organization. |
| **Editor** | Edits documents and files. Connects their own agents and their own accounts in the services. |
| **Viewer** | Reads documents and files. Connects their own agents, read-only. |

## The access levels of the agents

An access level says what an AI agent can do in the organization: read or write documents, skills, files and tasks, and use each service to read only or also to write. When you connect Claude, you select the access level on the approval screen. You can change the level later in **Agents › Connected**. The agent never does more than the level permits.

Every organization comes with four levels. An admin creates other levels in **Agents**.

| Level | What it permits |
| --------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Researcher** | Read-only in all of Basement: documents, files, skills and tasks. No services. |
| **Analyst** | Reads all of Basement and every connected service (SAP, Jira, GLPI, MultiDados, another MCP server). Writes nothing. |
| **Operator** | Reads everything that Researcher reads. Writes documents, skills, files and tasks. No services. |
| **Full access** | Reads and writes all of Basement and every connected service. |

For a service, the admin marks in each level what the agent can do: **read only** or **read and write**. For example, an admin can create a level that reads only SAP.

## The activity log

Every call of an agent stays in the activity log: who called, which tool, in which service and with which result. The log does not keep the data that the agent read. See [Activity log](/concepts/activity-log).
